Hero MotoCorp Ltd.'s sales volume in April fell to its lowest level in nearly four years, primarily due to a 3-day halt in production at four of its manufacturing units. The company's total sales in April declined nearly 43% on year, totalling 305,406 units.
The production halt occurred at the company's facilities in Dharuhera, Gurugram, Haridwar, and Neemrana between April 17 and April 19. Hero MotoCorp expects its operations to normalise in May.
The company's domestic sales in April were 288,524 units, down 44% on year and 43% from the preceding month. Exports also saw a significant drop, reaching their lowest level in 10 months. The company exported 16,882 units in April, a decrease of nearly 17% on year and more than 58% lower than March.
In terms of product sales, Hero MotoCorp sold 286,089 motorcycles in April, representing a 43% on year decline. Sales of scooters were notably lower, with only 19,317 units sold, down 48% from the same month last year. Sales of its electric scooter, the VIDA V2, also fell, with 7,116 units sold in April compared to 7,787 units the previous month.
