GAIL (India) Ltd. has signed a tripartite concession agreement with the Greater Bengaluru Authority and Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd. to set up a compressed biogas plant in Bengaluru. The agreement will remain valid for 25 years from the project’s commissioning, the company said in an exchange filing.

Under the deal, the Greater Bengaluru Authority will provide 18 acres of land on a permissive use basis, while Bengaluru Solid Waste Management will supply 300 tonnes per day of segregated municipal waste.

The plant will process this to produce 12.6 tonnes of compressed biogas and 22 tonnes of fermented organic manure per day for sustainable agricultural use.
