Dalmia Cement Challenges ₹1.09-billion Tax Demand In Guwahati HC

Dalmia Bharat Ltd. on Tuesday said its subsidiary, Dalmia Cement (North East) Ltd., has filed a writ petition before the Guwahati High Court against a tax demand of ₹1.09 billion.

The demand stems from assessment orders issued by the National Faceless Assessment Centre for 2022–2023 and 2023–2024, the company said in an exchange filing.

Dalmia Cement (North East) was not granted an opportunity to be heard, the company said, adding that it believes it has a strong case backed by legal precedents and factual evidence.

If the petition does not yield relief, the financial impact could be up to the full amount of the tax demand, the company added.
