Wipro Ltd. posted a sequential decline in its September quarter net profit despite a rise in revenue, as a higher tax outgo weighed on earnings.
The IT major’s consolidated net profit fell 2.5% on quarter to ₹32.46 billion, though it rose 1.2% from a year ago. Revenue from operations rose 2.5% on quarter and 1.8% on year to ₹226.97 billion.
Sales from IT services stood at ₹226.4 billion against ₹220.8 billion in the previous quarter, while operating margin was 16.7%. The margin included a ₹1.17 billion provision linked to a client bankruptcy; excluding this, it would have been 17.2%.
The company said Europe and APMEA regions returned to growth, while bookings for the first half of 2025-2026 surpassed $9.5 billion. In constant currency, quarterly revenue rose 0.3% on quarter but fell 2.6% on year.
Wipro’s total bookings for the quarter were $4.7 billion, with large deal bookings up 6.7% on quarter at $2.85 billion. The company’s headcount rose to 235,492 as of September 30, while attrition eased to 14.9%.
For April-September, Wipro reported a consolidated net profit of ₹65.77 billion on revenue of ₹448.32 billion. The company expects its IT services revenue for the December quarter to be in the range of $2.59 billion to $2.64 billion.
