Narendra Modi Says 7.8% GDP Growth Shows Strong Economic Confidence

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India’s 7.8% GDP growth in the April-June quarter reflected stronger confidence in the economy, after expansion exceeded market and central bank forecasts.

“7.8% growth. Strong numbers. Even stronger confidence,” Modi said in a post on X.

India’s economy grew 7.8% from a year earlier in April-June, above the Reserve Bank of India’s 7.0% forecast. Growth, though high, eased from a revised 8.6% in the January-March quarter.

Gross value added rose 8.2%, while manufacturing expanded 9.2% and financial, real estate and professional services grew 12.1%.

Modi said India’s performance came despite global uncertainty. The world is drowned in uncertainties and yet India is progressing by leaps and bounds, he said. 

“We must build on the momentum of 7.8% GDP growth.”
