Govt Approves MSP for Kharif Season, Raises Support Price for Paddy by ₹72/100 kg

Government raises MSP for paddy and other Kharif crops for 2026-27, with sharp hikes in sunflower, cotton and pulses to support farm incomes.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, or CCEA, on Tuesday approved an increase of ₹72 per 100 kg in the Minimum Support Price for common paddy for the 2026-27 Kharif marketing season, taking the procurement price to ₹2,441 per 100 kg from ₹2,369 a year ago. MSP for Grade A paddy was raised by ₹72 to ₹2,461 per 100 kg.

The government also approved higher MSPs for 12 other Kharif crops, with the sharpest absolute increase announced for sunflower seed at ₹622 per 100 kg, followed by cotton at ₹557, nigerseed at ₹515 and sesamum at ₹500 per 100 kg, according to an official statement after the Cabinet meeting.

Revised MSPs for Kharif Marketing Season 2026-27:

  • Paddy (Common): ₹2,441/100 kg, up ₹72
  • Paddy (Grade A): ₹2,461/100 kg, up ₹72
  • Jowar (Hybrid): ₹4,023/100 kg, up ₹324
  • Jowar (Maldandi): ₹4,073/100 kg, up ₹324
  • Bajra: ₹2,900/100 kg, up ₹125
  • Ragi: ₹5,205/100 kg, up ₹319
  • Maize: ₹2,410/100 kg, up ₹10
  • Tur/Arhar: ₹8,450/100 kg, up ₹450
  • Moong: ₹8,780/100 kg, up ₹12
  • Urad: ₹8,200/100 kg, up ₹400
  • Groundnut: ₹7,517/100 kg, up ₹254
  • Sunflower Seed: ₹8,343/100 kg, up ₹622
  • Soybean (Yellow): ₹5,708/100 kg, up ₹380
  • Sesamum: ₹10,346/100 kg, up ₹500
  • Nigerseed: ₹10,052/100 kg, up ₹515
  • Cotton (Medium Staple): ₹8,267/100 kg, up ₹557
  • Cotton (Long Staple): ₹8,667/100 kg, up ₹557

The government said the MSP hikes are in line with the Union Budget 2018-19 commitment to fix support prices at least 1.5 times the all-India weighted average cost of production.
