Dabur India Ltd. on Wednesday said the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal has cancelled ₹593.7 million from a total tax demand of ₹1.10 billion raised by the Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax in April. This brings the outstanding demand down to ₹509.6 million, the company said in an exchange filing.
Dabur has already appealed before the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals). The company said it does not expect any financial impact from the demand, adding that any implication will be limited to the final tax liability determined by appellate authorities.
The original ₹1.10 billion demand was issued after reassessment proceedings under Section 263 of the Income Tax Act, alleging wrongful tax deductions on in-house R&D expenses and under Section 14A.
