Coal India Ltd. and Hindustan Copper Ltd have signed a non-binding initial agreement to explore collaboration opportunities in copper and critical minerals, the two state-owned companies said in exchange filings on Tuesday. The agreement was signed on Monday.
Coal India said the move is part of its strategy to diversify into critical and non-coal minerals, as demand for coal remains muted. Hindustan Copper has been working to reopen its closed mines under the mine developer and operator model to boost output.
